Chink in the Armor

In GlenRef’s blog entry “Every Chink in the Armor”, we have many of the reasons I discourage churches from running their own webserver for a church web site when he writes:

I accidentally left a caching proxy Web server running on a Macintosh on my network, and, sure enough, within a few weeks, someone probing found it and started attacking …

Not that every host out there is providing top-notch security, but most legitimate/descent ones run in secure data centers with lots of backups and several alarm-laden tripwires.
