Welcome VueNet.com Readers
Check this out kiddies … this site made VueNet.com in an article entitled Church websites ‘ugly as sin’.
Too bad they got parts of it wrong (next time, e-mail me or call me first !-). My comment about “Jesus Junk” was made in an interview with the Wireless FlashNews service … not in Vincent Flanders’ new and excellent book “Son of WebPages That Suck” which I COMMAND all my faithful followers to buy and blindly follow.
Other than that, the article is pretty on target, except I wish they’d use the LONG version of my quote which I offer as:
“Church webmasters appearently contract their addiction to Jesus Junk from watching too much TBN … as opposed to reading Os Guinness“
Well, I’m not too pleased of the picture of the Pope up there with the article either … that’s pretty sloppy work considering how easy it is to find an animated gif of a 3d spinning cross … and seeing as how there is nary a mention of the Vatican or anything Papal within any of the content on the entirety of my site.
In fact, I just fired-off a letter to the editor …
While I truly appreciate the press received from your May 22, 2002 article entitled “Church websites ‘ugly as sin’” (http://www.vnunet.com/News/1131966), I regret to inform you that the author Nick Farrell has penned a rather glaring error.
My comments about “Jesus Junk” are no where to be found in the new book by Vincent Flanders, “Son of Web Page That Suck“, to which I was the contributing editor for Chapter 14 regarding “Bleeding Edge” technology. Rather, those comments were made in an interview with Adam Gnade of the Wireless FlashNews service.Had the author merely visited my site, or that of Mr.Flanders (http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com) he would have quickly figured this out, and if not, could have e-mailed me and/or called me to confirm the information as other news sources have done since the FlashNews release.
I’m not demanding anything, though I think out of fairness to Vincent Flanders’ work, a retraction would be forthcoming as this is just plain-old-sloppy work. You know, the type of stuff of usually generated by clumsy Yanks such as myself.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration of this issue.
Regards,
